Unified School District #456 - Marais des Cygnes Valley is pleased to announce the opening of the Teacher of the Year nomination process for the 2023-2024 school year!
The USD 456 Teacher of the Year award is in its fifth year, and is aimed at highlighting and honoring the wonderful educators who serve our school district community. The honoree is selected amongst district certified staff through a nomination process that includes students, staff, and community members with final selection by the board of education. Upon that selection, the honoree becomes the school district nominee for the Kansas State Department of Education's Teacher of the Year program.
In being the district's nominee for the annual KSDE Teacher of the Year program, the staff member becomes a part of highly select group competing for the annual Kansas Teacher of the Year designation. To be considered for KSDE's Teacher of the Year, district nominees complete a professional application packet including a professional biography, response questions, recommendation letters, and a number of other information items.
Past honorees have been selected due to their leadership in the classroom, relationship building within the community, and dedication to education. USD 456 considers this award to be of the highest honor for our teaching staff and are dedicated to continuing its tradition.
